Spring Break is More Than Just a Vacation

Spring break is coming up and we can’t wait for warmer weather. We have spent the cold winter months dreaming of sunny beaches, busy cities, and memorable vacations. Now that Spring break is here, it’s time shake off the seasonal sadness and start exploring America once again! There are so many options, so how do you choose? Well, AAA has released their list of the top 10 Spring Break Destinations across America. Let’s get into it!

10. Tampa, Florida: The Big Guava

Tampa is a hidden gem along Florida’s gulf coast. Along with other Florida cities, Tampa also has its own theme park called Busch Gardens. Visit the Tampa Riverwalk and take a day trip to Clearwater Beach.

9. Charlotte, North Carolina: The Queen City’s Hidden Gems

Also known as, Queen City, Charlotte is becoming one a very popular spring break destinations. Charlotte has the excitement of a big city but the charm of a small town. Charlotte is a sports hub, home to NFL, NBA, and MLS teams. Take a walk through Freedom Park, or rent a boat and go fishing in Lake Norman. Make sure to check out The Levine Museum of the New South and the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Pro Tip: Visit one of the local breweries scatter all around the city to go on a tour and taste some local craft beer. Take a trip to the NASCAR Hall of Fame if you’re a racing fan. You’ll get to experience the history and thrill of motorsports in an interactive setting.

8. Atlanta, Georgia: Southern Charm and Southern Adventure

Atlanta has become one of the most vibrant cities in America. There is history, culture, and Southern charm. The many tourist attractions include the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, the Georgia Aquarium, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Piedmont Park is especially beautiful during spring when the flowers are in full bloom. The city is also known for its incredible food scene, with everything from barbecue to fine dining. Your trip to Atlanta wouldn’t be complete without Southern comfort food and luckily Atlanta has an incredible food scene ,

Pro Tip: If you’re a base ball fan, try and catch a Braves game at Truist Park.

7. Chicago, Illinois: Wind City

From the famous Millennium Park to the world-renowned Art Institute of Chicago,, there is no shortage of things to see and do in Chicago. The Windy city burst full of culture, history and beautiful architecture. A trip to Chicago is not complete without trying a slice of deep-dish pizza. If you don’t take a selfie with the Cloud Gate sculpture (aka “The Bean”), did you even go to Chicago?!

Pro Tip: If you’re visiting during St. Patricks Day, don’t skip out on the Chicago River, they dye it green for St. Patrick’s Day!

6. Fort Lauderdale, Florida: The Venice of America

Fort Lauderdale is best known for its miles of beaches and waterfront restaurant, making it an ideal spring break destination. Take a walk on Las Olas Boulevard for at stop in the stores for shopping, souvenirs, and delicious food. Although Fort Lauderdale may live up to its name of “The Venice of America”, if you want to visit Venice this year, make sure you know the rules before going.

Insider Tip: Get on a water taxi to experience the the city’s canals and breathtaking waterfront mansions.

5. Miami, Florida: The Ultimate Beach Party

Miami officials said they’re breaking up with Spring Break but we rest of America has not gotten the Memo. Spring breakers have decided that Miami is still a hot Spring break location even with all the rules and regulations in place during Spring Break. The beach parties are incredible and the nigh out in Miami will be a night to remember. Relax on South Beach’s beautiful white sands and explore the Wynwood Art District.

Insider Tip: If you want a quieter Spring Break experience, visit the Key Biscayne, an island village away from the busy crowds.

4. New York City, New York: The City That Never Sleeps

New York City is spring break playground. There are so many things to do here. From walking around Central Park to watching Broadway shows and checking out must see landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and Times Square, your Spring Break in New York will be full of activities. New York is the Big Apple and it has something for everyone. The city is full of with world-class museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.

Pro Tip: Save money by using the subway to get around and checking out free attractions like the One World Trade Center, the High Line and the Brooklyn Bridge.

3. Anaheim, California: Fun for the Whole Family

Anaheim is home to one of the most famous them parks in the world, Disneyland. If you want to stay on the west coast this Spring break but still want to see the magic of Disney, a trip Anaheim is a fantastic option. Although Anaheim is best known for theme parks, it does have more to offer. Go to lunch in the Anaheim Packing district, watch a game at Angel Stadium, or visit Huntington Beach. Explore the local dining scene, take a trip to nearby beaches, or catch a game with the Los Angeles Angels or Anaheim Ducks.

Pro Tip: The Downtown Disney District is free to enter and you go go there to shop, dine and enjoy live entertainment.

2. Honolulu, Hawaii: The Island Gateway

Honolulu is a great combination of city life and island escape. Like most island in Hawaii, Honolulu has beautiful beaches, fascinating history and plenty of outdoor adventure. Take a hike to the top of Diamond Head for a spectacular view. Lounge on Waikiki Beach. Head to Iolani Place to learn about the culture of Hawaii. Your days will be full of good food, relaxation and a bit of culture to tie it all together.

Insider Tip: You can not leave Hawaii without trying poke bowls, loco moco and of course a delicious scoop of shaved ice.

1. Orlando, Florida: The Theme Park Capital

Orlando is a classic spring break spot and one of my all time favorites. This adventurous city is home to Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. These iconic theme parks are not only family friendly but also offer thrills for those of us that like an adrenaline rush. They don’t call it the Theme Park Capital of the world for no reason! Apart from the rides, Orlando also has beautiful relaxing spots like the Harry P. Leu Gardens and Lake Eola. You can head to the gardens to relax after a few days of adventure.

Pro Tip: Look for hotels that offers shuttle services to the theme parks.
